Laboratory Spectroscopy as a Fundamental Support to Planetary Science Missions

Speaker:  Edward A. Cloutis
Affiliation:   University of Winnipeg
luogo: Aula IB09 - Area di ricerca di Torvergata
A cura: Seminario di gruppo - Ernesto Palomba

Laboratory spectroscopy is essential for understanding the composition of planetary bodies. It can be used to: 1) Correct spacecraft data to other observations that may be better calibrated (e.g., Earth-based spectra) 2) Provide information for phase angle corrections and understanding of forward/backscattering properties 3) Understand the spectrum-altering effects of space weathering and regolith gardening.

The seminar will be about the spectroscopic analysis on the Bennu returned grains and on ordinary chondrite meteorites.
