Space Missions

Athena (Advanced Telescope for High-Energy Astrophysics) is the European Space Agency’s flagship mission for X-ray astronomy. Designed to investigate the physical processes governing the hot and energetic Universe, the mission will enable the study of the formation and evolution of large cosmic structures, the accretion of supermassive black holes, and the dynamics of matter under extreme conditions. Thanks to an unprecedented combination of spectral sensitivity and imaging capabilities, Athena will provide a fundamental scientific infrastructure for addressing some of the major unresolved questions in contemporary astrophysics.

AGILE (Astrorivelatore Gamma a Immagini LEggero) è una missione dell’Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI) per lo studio dell’Universo alle alte energie.

The JUpiter ICy moons Explorer (JUICE) mission was selected on 2 May 2012 as the first large-class mission. Launched on 14 April 2023, it is scheduled to arrive at Jupiter in July 2031.
