The Bruno Rossi Prize for 2024 belongs to IXPE.
Martin Weisskopf, Paolo Soffitta and the entire IXPE team deserve great credit for having opened a new window in the sky and more broadly in our knowledge: that of X-ray polarimetry.
This is the full motivation from the High Energy Astrophysics Division (HEAD) of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) accompanying the award:
"The 2024 HEAD Bruno Rossi Prize is awarded to Martin Weisskopf, Paolo Soffitta and IXPE team for their development of the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer whose novel measurements advance our understanding of particle acceleration and emission from astrophysical shocks, black holes and neutron stars."
