In a recent article published on Nature by Eleonora Ammannito and other authors from INAF IAPS, olivine was mapped on asteroid Vesta using hyperspectral data collected by instrument VIR onboard mission Dawn. This newly discovered distribution suggests a complex evolutionary history for Vesta.
On the 9th of October 2013, the NASA mission Juno made its Earth’s gravity assist coming to 559 km from us, before leaving to Jupiter, that it will reach on 2016. The scientific team of the mission, in Denver, received and analyzed the first data collected at the Moon and Earth flybys. JunoCam’s images and the data aquired by other instruments showed that everythig is going ok. Juno was also imaged by observers from all over the world.

Data form ESA spacecraft Venus Express and published on Icarus and The Journal of Geophysical Research show that in six years, the wind that move Venus’ clouds have sped up from 300 to 400 km/h. The physical reasons are being studied. (source: media INAF)
